People are at the heart of the Barrett & Co. philosophy.

Since 1981, Barrett & Co. has provided specialist, personalised legal services with a focus on service excellence. During this time, we’ve formed loyal and lasting relationships with a range of clients who appreciate our simple, straightforward, successful approach.

Our senior partner Hilary Buckle specialises in Wills and Probate and is partnered by Justin Sadler, who practices both Litigation and Employment Law, and Paul Wild, a collaborative lawyer and mediator in Family Law.

We’re proud of our motivated, experienced staff, who epitomise our positive spirit and friendly, professional culture. Many have been with us for several years, giving the firm a depth of knowledge and reliability that is invaluable to clients and colleagues alike.

This rich heritage is complemented by a passion for innovation. By harnessing the latest technology, we streamline processes and administration to ensure you receive the most efficient, accurate service at all times. Case management systems are computer-based, and you can email all staff directly. As part of this, we avoid jargon and legal terminology – and use plain English, so you always know where you stand.

Barrett & Co.’s Reading office is near the town centre, and easily accessible by bus, train and car. We have a small private car park which can be booked by prior appointment. Home visits are also available by prior appointment where required.

Social Responsiblity

A number of our partners act as School Governors in the local area, one also volunteers at the local Citizens Advice office and two of our senior members of staff have been involved with the Reading & District Hospitals Charity for a number of years.

Our firm was one of the founders of the Reading Professional for Barnardo’s, a group that organises and runs a number of fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for Barnardo’s. Barrett & Co Solicitors have proudly been part of the committee for Reading Professionals for Barnardo’s for the past 10 years.

The Private Client Department participates in a number of Will schemes throughout the course of the year in aid of various charities. We give our time either for a nominal fee or completely without charge.

For a number of years we have participated in Will Aid and Free Wills Month, which are both national campaigns. In addition we are also involved with the Duchess of Kent House Charity Make a Will fortnight and the Naomi House Make Your Will campaigns. The Duchess of Kent House Charity is a hospice near to our office in Reading and Naomi House is a children’s Hospice in Hampshire and we are very pleased support both these worthwhile charities, for which the Wills campaigns raise vital sums every year.

Finally, throughout out the year, the firm seeks opportunities to support charities by entering its fearless quiz team into local quiz evenings in Reading, taking on any of our fellow professionals brave enough to compete against us!
