In early October, Property Trainee Solicitor, Emma Docking was invited to the annual national JLD Conference 2021 held in London. Representing in her capacity of Regional Representative of the JLD BB&O and Barrett & Co Solicitors, attending the all-day conference provided valuable insight and current changes for the junior lawyers of England and Wales.
Attending the event with her JLD BB&O colleague, Rebekah Sutcliffe, who is the President of JLD BB&O, we had opportunity in networking with likeminded people, as well as attending speakers in the legal industry.
Hosted by the Executive Committee of the Junior Lawyers Division at the beautiful Fieldfisher London Offices near Embankment, and sponsored by Chadwick Nott Recruitment and Devonshires Solicitors, the day started with an emotional speech by President of the Westminster and Holborn Law Society, Paul Sharma.
Various speeches throughout the day really highlighted the importance of the current changes within the legal industry, especially with the newly introduced SQE Examination. Other speeches gave insight to different career paths within law whilst not practising as a solicitor, motivational speeches on ethics, which followed with break out rooms on various matters of your choosing for a more in-depth session.
Sponsors, Chadwick Nott Legal Recruitment organised the only raffle of which our Emma won the prized bottle of Moet.
The day ended with us attending the closest pub with more networking and drinks to be had. What was an extremely long and tiring day, was also an incredible and worthy experience. Emma is grateful to have had the opportunity and experience in attending and looks forward to the next one.
