Each year at Barrett & Co Solicitors LLP we close our doors for an afternoon in December for our Christmas party which, this year, was a team Treasure Hunt which took our Teams across Reading and the surrounding areas.
The firm was split into two teams with each team having two sub-teams; one of which stayed in the office and one set off in the car. The office teams were tasked with providing navigation for the car teams and deciphering clues as to the next location.
The office teams also had to find time to complete a full quiz and make Playdough Christmas characters/scenes which the associated car team had to identify correctly; all of which allowed the teams to accrue points and eventually a winning team was crowned!
The car teams headed off in opposite directions with one team setting off to Henley and the other to Burghfield Common. The teams were successfully navigated by their office teams around several venues, all of which had been briefed beforehand to provide answers to the questions with which the team faced them.
Our Henley team visited; the River & Rowing Museum, Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre, Hare Hatch Sheeplands and Woodford Park Leisure Centre.
Our Burghfield Common team visited; a local Dementia Café, Englefield Garden Centre, Guide Dogs UK and a local Knit and Natter group.
On their way back to the office the car teams were also asked to purchase snacks for their office teams, the first letters of which spelt “Barrett”. This resulted in an interesting array of snacks including; Tortilla Chips, Apples and Rolos!
Following the Treasure Hunt we had the results of our charity hamper raffle for which we had all purchased tickets in the preceding weeks. All proceeds of the tickets were divided between the charitable organisations visited during the Treasure Hunt by way of thanks for their involvement and willing cooperation.
The teams were extremely grateful to Jane Whitfield and Vanessa Ruparel who kindly organised and ran the afternoon which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Alongside this, as promised in our last newsletter, we can now reveal the winners of the Barrett & Co Christmas Bake Off!
This year we made it slightly more competitive and had two categories, one for taste and one for the most creative design to bring out our creativity and the bakers did not disappoint. We can reveal that it was close this year, however, the winners were as follows:
Tastiest bake »
This year it went to Eleanor Pearson, a Solicitor in our Family Department, who baked a Terry’s chocolate orange cheesecake.
« Most Creative design
This new award went to Charlotte Corcoran, a Trainee Solicitor in our Conveyancing department with her Christmas pudding cake.
