Barrett & Co are delighted to announce that they have promoted senior solicitor Jane Whitfield to become the firm’s Head of Trusts and Charities.
Jane has extensive charity law experience and was one of the co-authors of the 3rd Edition of “Charities as Beneficiaries”, published by the Private Client Section of the Law Society and the Institute of Legacy Management.
Jane primarily advises organisations on charity registration and governance, and will be building on her existing status in the Thames Valley as a trusted adviser for the charitable sector. Jane is particularly experienced in advising faith charities and assisting them in dealing with the unique challenges they face.
Jane is also a proven specialist in relation to trusts, and has a wide variety of trustee clients. Jane often contributes technical and accounting advice that ensures that clients who are being advised by the Private Client team receive holistic advice from team members with complementary expertise.
In September 2014, Jane was appointed as the Chair of the Law Society’s Wills and Equity Committee, having been a member of the Committee for the previous 9 years. This role has already involved Jane in appearing live on BBC Breakfast News and Channel 5 News and being interviewed by journalists from the Financial Times, the Sunday Times and Daily Telegraph, as well as legal journals and the Law Society’s Gazette.
Jane is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and has qualified with them as a Trusts and Estates Practitioner. Jane is also a member of HMRC’s Trusts & Estates Agents Advisory Group.
If you would like to discuss any issues relating to trusts or charities, Jane can be contacted at email@example.com or on 0118 958 9711.
