Following our involvement in the Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day, we are pleased to say that our Private Client team have expanded their association with the Dementia Friends initiative.

Jane Whitfield, solicitor, will complete her training as a Dementia Champion in September of this year and Charlotte Mckenty, solicitor, and Eleanor Pearson, trainee solicitor, will be completing their Dementia Friends training next month. We are extremely pleased that this will mean that our entire Private Client team are registered Dementia Friends or Champions.

Becoming a Dementia Friend or Champion allows individuals or groups to change their preconceptions of Dementia and how the condition can materialise within each person affected. The training aims to open the eyes of the general public so that they know a little more about how to help Dementia sufferers in every day interactions. This could be in a supermarket or waiting for a bus, but these scenarios can trigger numerous reactions from a person living with Dementia and a little more understanding of this can go a long way.

If you are interested in becoming a Dementia Friend or you are part of a group that wish to complete the training please contact our head of department, Hilary Buckle, as we will shortly be in a position to host training sessions.
