John Harrison
John Harrison joined Barrett & Co in 1986 following a career of more than ten years in industry as an accountant with Unilever plc. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
John's original task was to organise the financial control systems within the firm. Based on this experience, he also advises other firms of solicitors on a consultancy basis with regard to their management information systems.
In recent years, John has become more involved with the legal side of the practice, particularly in company and partnership matters where his accountancy background is invaluable. He decided to supplement his practical experience by embarking on a distance learning course to qualify as a solicitor, which he achieved in the year 2001. Now also a partner, his double qualification as a lawyer and an accountant gives an additional dimension to the advice available from the firm's company and partnership and debt recovery departments.
John is also a Trustee of the Reading and District Hospitals Charity. He is a keen cricketer and musician and is the organist for his village Church.
