Another sunny day for the annual Lawyers v. Surveyors charity golf event at Reading Golf Club

What was supposed to be a cloudy and rainy day turned out to be a hot and sunny day for the players of the annual Lawyers v Surveyors golf tournament, held at the beautiful grounds of Reading Golf Club.

Another sunny day for the annual Lawyers v. Surveyors charity golf event at Reading Golf ClubCo-organised by Field Seymour Parkes and Hicks Baker, it brings together lawyers and surveyors within the commercial property industry around Reading together to network and play golf, something I personally look forward to every year.

As the usual Barrett & Co Solicitors players, Imran Choudhary and I attended the event with enthusiasm with my colleague even renting a golf buggy to get into the spirit of the day.  The beautiful weather had definitely got everyone in the right mood for a long, grueling day of golf – I know I was ready.

The day involved 6 groups of four-ball pairings which are organised into standard levels of play, handicaps and mixed pairings of solicitors against surveyors. This year I was paired with Richard Tweed from Pitmans and we played against Hicks Baker’s Fiona Brownfoot and Fryer Commercial’s own Simon Fryer. Imran paired off with Herrington Carmichael’s Daniel York who both played against Henry Bellamy-Rosser from Sharps Commercial and Harry Bevins from Haslams.

This year the lawyers lost against the surveyors who had given them a good run for their money,  with the surveyors scratching it by one point.

The evening of course ended with a few relaxing pints in the sun and a three-course meal. More importantly, any money that was raised on the day, which amounted to over £500.00, went to a designated charity of the winning team. Stephen Head of Hicks Baker gratefully accepted the winning trophy and the money raised went towards their chosen charity, The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

It really was a good way to end a long day on the course.
