After several months of training and various form of fundraising, on the 2nd of October 2016, our colleague Charlotte Corcoran undertook and successfully completed the Palace to Palace Bike Ride. The event, in aid of The Prince’s Trust, consisted of a 45 mile route of varying landscapes; beginning on The Mall outside Buckingham Palace. The ride took Charlotte on a tour of London including the magnificent Richmond Park, up through the Surrey Countryside, which included some difficult gradients, before finishing at Windsor Racecourse after travelling alongside Windsor Castle.
Looking back on the ride, Charlotte feels that the most enjoyable part was the first 20 miles , which was most likely due to excessive adrenaline and energy reserves, with the lowest point being an extended hill climb at Virginia Water which even professional teams were struggling to conquer.
Charlotte managed to complete this challenge in a respectable time of 4:23:43. Barrett & Co colleagues were very supportive and happily contributed to her fundraising efforts by purchasing her baked treats, which she had created. She was also supported outside of the office by her mother who gamely agreed to complete the challenge with her.
Since the completion of this event, Charlotte has already signed up to complete The London to Reading cycling event in March 2017, and is also considering the famous London to Brighton 2017 cycling event, both of which are in aid of The British Heart Foundation. She continues to enjoy her cycling and looks forward to bringing in further baked treats in the future to aid in further fundraising. Charlotte would like to extend a big thank you to all of her friends and work colleagues who helped her in various ways to reach this goal.
Charlotte has been a greatly valued member of Barrett & Co for nearly eighteen months, directly supporting the Practice Manager in the administrative and accounting functions of the Firm. In addition to her cycling, she also enjoys baking, movies and is the Firm’s most avid Disney fan (with various Disney characters often ingeniously represented in cake format!)
