Firm News Summer 2015

Firm News Summer 2015Barrett & Co Solicitors has always taken its fundraising and corporate responsibility very seriously and this summer has been no exception.

In May, Barrett & Co Solicitors sponsored our Trainee Solicitor Charlotte Mckenty and her mother, Jan Mckenty, to complete the Breast Cancer Moonwalk. The Moonwalk is a full 26.2 mile walking marathon commencing at midnight on Clapham Common and continuing into the early hours of the morning. The Moonwalk has a different theme each year with the only proviso being that walkers, both men and women, must wear a bra. As you can see, Charlotte and Jan dressed as Batman and Poison Ivy for this year’s movie-themed walk.

We are pleased to report that Charlotte and Jan raised over £500 in sponsorship and completed the walk in just over six and a half hours finishing shortly after the sun rose over London. Both Charlotte and Jan thoroughly enjoyed raising money for this extremely worthy charity and they must be congratulated for completing the challenge in such a respectable time.

They have now both claimed to have hung up their walking shoes for the time being, but we are not convinced that this will last very long…!

JLL Property Triathlon

Martin Reynolds - Charity Swim

In July, Martin Reynolds, head of the firm’s Company and Commercial Team, completed the JLL Property Swim – a single “length” of the 2.2km Eton Dorney Rowing Lake – in a time of 37mins 43secs placing him 48th in  a field of 161 finishers.  The JLL Property Swim is an annual event run in tandem with the JLL Property Triathlon and organised by Jones Lange LaSalle.  It raises money for the charity Starlight, a charity seeking to brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children.  Further details (and more embarrassing photos) are available at the website www.propertyswim.com.

More fundraising events are planned for later in the year, so watch this space!
