Happy New Year! It all seems so long ago now, but recapping briefly on events towards the end of 2014:-
In late September 2014 Barrett & Co took part in the Reading Legal Walk in order to raise funds for local legal advice charities who provide advice to those who are not able to fund themselves.
With donations from clients, staff members, friends and family we were able to raise a total of £617. The walk started in the Market Place and took us through the streets of Reading until we crossed the finish line almost two hours later. A team of 14 Barrett & Co staff and friends
walked the 10km route and discovered parts of Reading that we never knew existed, not to mention giving us the opportunity to wear our new Barrett & Co T-shirts.
The walk was attended by over 150 walkers from local law firms and companies and in total over £6,000 was raised for charity.
We will certainly be taking part again next year so please let us know if you would like to get involved.
Barrett & Co was also involved in raising money for Children in Need in November. We were able to raise over £90 by taking part in a ‘dress down day’ in the office and selling home-made chocolate brownies.
We also took part in Save the Children’s annual ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ in December and raised £30. And finally, by donating various Christmassy-type items and then selling raffle tickets to the staff, we managed to raise £191.50 for Barnardo’s.
We are delighted to announce that we have recently appointed Alan Warnes as our new head of conveyancing. Alan brings with him a wealth of experience having been head of conveyancing at his two previous firms. He has moved from London in order to reduce his commute and restore a work-life balance.
So all in all, a good end to a good year. We look forward to another good year with you in 2015.
